Recorded shortly after the band’s explosive 1987 U.S. tour in support of the ’85 album Misdemeanor, UFO  put out this EP entitled “Ain’t Misbehavin´” originally released 1988. Again featuring a collaboration between frontman Phil Mogg and excellent Japanese-born guitarist Atomik Tommy M, the recording delivers commercial hard rock with melody according to times.

Long time our of print now will be released “Ain’t Misbehavin’ (2024 Deluxe Edition)” featuring a bunch of bonus tracks including vintage live performances and other rarities that fans and collectors will treasure.
The reissue also includes a new artwork – the original was censored in America > PMRC silly era.

While at the time Phil Mogg was the only original member in the band, there’s some truly wonderful songs on ‘Ain’t Misbehavin’. Mogg’s vocals are heartfelt, crisp, and emotive and the arrangements of each track represent what is great about second half on the Eighties melodic hard rock. Nobody makes albums like this anymore.
“Between A Rock & A Hard Place” is a catchy rocker, followed by “Another Saturday Night,” a well-crafted midtempo power ballad, pretty AORish, featuring a brilliant vocal performance from Mogg. “Atomic” Tommy McClendon lays down a heart-wrenching guitar solo that sends this song through the stratosphere.

While some UFO fans prefers their harder, classic style, ‘Ain’t Misbehavin’ is a very good record, a product of its era: the songwriting & sound production brings to mind Hurricane, King Kobra, Night Ranger, etc.
Don’t compare this UFO release to other versions of the band… just listen to it with fresh ears. Phil’s singing is great and the songs are strong.
Fans of 1988-1989 US styled melodic hard rock need to check out this – now remastered and expanded.
Highly Recommended
